50 years of the Coronation of the Macarena

After a great job of the board chaired by D. Ricardo Zubiria, he 15 May 1963 the news of his coronation was released. He 12 December of the same year, Cardinal Bueno Monreal gave him a Rosary and a gold emblem with the effigy of John XXIII.

The coronation was scheduled to take place in the Plaza de España, but bad weather prevented the ceremony from being held there.

Franco presided over the coronation of the Virgin that in the end had to take place in the Cathedral, entering through the door of Palos.

Doña Esperanza de Borbón y Orleans de Braganza were also at the ceremony, maid of the virgin.

The godparents of the coronation were D. Jose Hernandez Diaz, Mayor of Seville and Miss Inmaculada Rodríguez, by delegation of the community of the Sisters of the Cross.

The honors and treatment that Macarena had were Captain General.

At 6 On Sunday morning, the Virgin was scheduled to go from Rosario de la Aurora to the Plaza de España. The step was adorned with white carnations and gladioli.

The Virgin wore a fine lace skirt from the 17th century and the coronation mantle of green Lyon velvet embroidered in gold, on his chest the emeralds given by Jóselito and hanging from his hand the rosary given by John XXIII.

Once the Virgin entered and organized the Church, La Macarena was in Besamanos the day 5 of June, wearing his crown.
